When you have finished moving, report to your local municipal office within 14 days.

Reporting cannot be done by mail or online. Go in person to the office -- the procedure is free of charge.

It is important to update your new address on the back of your residence card, so please do it immediately after moving in.  


                                            

 

Items needed at the municipal office,

*Passport

*Residence card

*Personal seal “hanko” , if you have one

*For domestic moves: “Move-out notification” (TENSHUTSU TODOKE) issued by the local government office of the previous address

If you need a Resident Certificate (JUMIN-HYO), ask the office to issue it. It costs about 300 yen each.
